Moscow, St. Petersburg and Moscow Region became leaders in the rating of federal subjects of Russia in terms of quality of life.
The rating is based on a comprehensive number of indicators that reflect the real situation of certain living conditions and the situation in the economic sphere, according to the rating of the Russian news agency RIA Novosti.
70 indicators that define the current living conditions and the situation in the social sphere were taken into account. Thus the rating score which evaluates interregional differences & establishes the criteria to assess regions was calculated.
As a result, Moscow, St. Petersburg and Moscow Region are still ranked first with an overall score exceeding 70 (out of 100). These three have been in the top for many years now with such high rating that is still unapproachable for other regions.
The main features that allow these regions to gain a foothold in the top of the rating for a long while are: enhanced infrastructure, high level of economic and social development backed up by very high potential
for further growth
